Johan Ernst Gunnerus had various hairstyles during his career. He reached fame as a talented botanist, ornithologist, pteridologist, bryologist, priest, zoologist, theologian, lichenologist, university teacher and mycologist. Nevertheless, the Norwegian bishop and botanist was especially known for his remarkable looks and his livable personality. Before his tragic passing at the age of 55 he was repeatedly featured in magazines and tabloids due to his marvelous looks.
